When critical thinking meets real-world change
“Discomfort (…) creates intelligence, alertness, and ultimately, resilience.”
With these words, Henri Bergeron reminded us, during the 2025 Rethinking work award ceremony, of the importance of confronting the complexity and tensions that shape today’s professional world.
Each year, this award, organized by Sciences Po and Le Monde, with the support of Turningpoint, highlights books that challenge the ways we think about work. These are often critical analyses rooted in the social sciences, offering a valuable counterpoint to the more optimistic perspectives of practitioners.
Far from being a source of conflict, this contrast enriches students’ thinking and makes the award a unique space where scientific rigor, journalistic inquiry, and educational engagement come together.
Congratulations to this year’s laureate, Daniel Veron, for his book “Le travail Migrant : l’autre délocalisation” (Migrant Work: The Other Form of Outsourcing), a profound and insightful exploration of the mechanisms of international labor mobility and the human challenges it entails.
A warm thank-you to our clients and jury members, Severine Grosjean, Marine Henin, and Amaury Houdart, whose commitment and thoughtful perspectives helped make this award a powerful moment of dialogue and knowledge, sharing with the Master’s students.
Finally, our sincere thanks to our partners at Sciences Po and Le Monde!
